Peace River Distributing’s Stella Artois tent has become a perennial favorite at the Punta Gorda Wine and Jazz Festival, but this year the company’s participation had a unique focus: water, and how not all of the world has reliable access to this fundamental resource. Serving the iconic brand of Stella Artois at the festival provided an opportunity for the company to encourage community involvement in a national program called Buy a Lady a Drink.
Water has played a key part in Stella’s 600-year brewing heritage, so they know its lasting impact. Yet today, 663 million people live without access to clean water, a problem that disproportionately affects women. The Buy a Lady a Drink program, through sales of limited-edition Stella Chalices, supports Water.org and their global campaign to providing clean, safe drinking water to developing nations.
Peace River Distributing created awareness and educated festival goers on the program; offering individuals a chance to see the stunning chalices in person, and to understand how they could personally make a difference. For each chalice sold, Stella Artois contributes enough money to water.org to provide one person with clean drinking water for 5 years. “This has always been one of our favorite events as a beer distributor” said Chris Wenzel, President of Peace River Distributing, adding “this year is even better though, as not only do we have the opportunity to share one of our great brands with so many people, but we’re also able to bring awareness to, and support, the great work being done by the people at Water.org.”
