Port Charlotte, FL – November 14, 2015
Employees and family members from Peace River Distributing partnered today with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity to help build a new home for a local family in need. Hammers in hand the team from Peace River Distributing went to work. By the time the dust settled the team had completed the exterior framing at the job site that was but a bare slab hours before.
For the last 5 years Peace River Distributing has participated in a team build with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity. Each year, 10-15 staff members volunteer for a day to help create a home for the benefit of a local family. Over the years, the team has worn many construction hats; working job sites where they have erected walls, built a roof and painted an entire home in just one day.
Since 1987, Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity has aided over 300 families in achieving their dream of home ownership and Peace River Distributing has had the privilege of being a part of that process. Giving back to the community is a strong tradition at the company and they plan to continue their community support through the annual team build with the Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity. Kim Stiles, HR Assistant, has joined every team build since the company began the tradition. “I participate in Habitat for Humanity because it means a lot to me to be lucky enough to own my own home; so it gives me pleasure to help others achieve this goal. The comradery of everyone participating is awesome. We are all committed to creating the same end result, the joy of home ownership!”
